I’ve been thinking lately of just how important it is that we believe that Jesus is the Christ of God, His Son. And that He gave His life to pay the penalty for our sin. This might seem remedial but I don’t think we should under estimate this because of it’s simplicity. When Paul and the rest of the early church began they had to fight “tooth and toe nail” for that simple truth. That the only way you will have access to God is by believing that Jesus was His Son and the Christ and He paid the penalty, He made the sacrifical antonement for our sin by His blood. You can’t just believe in a generic Son of God either, you have to believe it was Jesus of Nazereth. This simple truth alone alienates believers from billions of other humans in the world. In the same token you could view this as a common bond as well.
